Support for spiritual practice

If you see your life as a spiritual journey and are walking a path of practice, there will be times when you are able to meet life without too much difficulty as well as times when the road is rougher and you might value some steady company to support you and we can have a look together at what is going on. If you have a particular spiritual tradition I respect that and aim to work with the resources and methods you have available to you. I am at home with yogic methods and can bring in my experience of various practices if and when that is useful.

I have been thinking a lot about psychotherapy and spirituality. In my reading of person-centred theory spirituality is implicit in the practise of presence of the therapist. The therapist has a responsibility to be present to the client. The client is looking for help in some way and the help that is offered is the full presence of the therapist. This happens whether the client sees themselves as a spiritual practitioner or not.

When the client sees themselves as a spiritual practitioner – that is they have a spiritual philosophy of life and they are motivated to work to cultivate their awareness – then the work takes account of this and is understood by both parties. Maybe you have a spiritual practice and maybe not but we can look together at where you are and see what is needed.
